The industrial trash level measurement XL‑TrashSonar‑WR sensors have a robust PVC housing designed to meet IP67 water intrusion. The sensors provides trash level measurement using a narrow beam pattern. The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR outdoor ultrasonic sensors have high power output, noise rejection, auto calibration, and factory calibrated beam patterns. Users should select a sensor with their outputs and filtering of choice. Models are available with analog voltage output, serial digital output, pulse width output, and I2C (MB7137).

About Package Types

The XL-TrashSonar-WR sensor line is available in a variety of packages for applications with specific mounting requirements. The full horn package provides peak accuracy and sensitivity in this sensor line. It is recommended that testing is completed to ensure that the selected sensor will operate as expected in your application.

Weather Resistant (IP67) Sensors

The industrial outdoor XL-TrashSonar-WR sensors have a robust PVC housing designed to meet IP67 water intrusion. The sensors provide short to long distance detection and ranging with a narrow beam pattern. The XL-TrashSonar-WR outdoor ultrasonic trash level sensors have high power output, noise rejection, auto calibration, and factory calibrated beam patterns. Users should select a sensor with the outputs and filtering that matches their application. Models are available with analog voltage output, RS232 serial digital output, pulse width output, and I2C (MB7137).

The exposed materials of a properly mounted XL-TrashSonar-WR sensor are: Aluminum (oxidized surface), PVC, and silicone rubber (VMQ).

Additional Considerations

To ensure long‑term operation of the sensor, terminal connections should not be exposed to water, dust, or other chemicals. Follow proper mounting when installing your sensor. This is easily accomplished using standard PVC pipe fittings which match the provided mounting threads. The MB7950 Mounting Hardware is designed for the 3/4" NPS straight housings and can be purchased with your sensor.

Rugged & Reliable Outdoor Ultrasonic Sensors

The industrial XL‑TrashSonar‑WR products a high quality cost‑effective outdoor ultrasonic trash level sensor. They provide an industrial component module solution that offers easy to use outputs, weather and dust resistance, no sensor dead zone, calibrated narrow beam patterns, stable range readings, low power demands, and a host of other features detailed in the product datasheet.

The XL-TrashSonar-WR sensors are currently being used use in a number of trash level measurement industrial solutions.

Noise Filtering

The sensor dynamically adjusts its sensitivity to compensate for outside electric & acoustic noise sources.

Interface

The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR interface are designed for easy and intuitive use. The interface output formats included are Pulse Width, Analog Voltage, and asynchronous RS232 Serial for the MB7138 and MB7139. The MB7137 features communication using the I2C bus. All interfaces work without user code or complicated setup strings.

Power Requirements

The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR functions throughout a 3.0V to 5.5V operational voltage range. This allows for easy integration at either 3.3V or 5V and means that users of low voltage microcontrollers, or those who wish to operate in solar or battery based systems do not have to provide an extra power supply for the sensor.

The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR sensors have a 3.4mA average current draw during free ranging operation.

Controlled Narrow Beam Shape

Similar ultrasonic products may have frequent side lobe detection and can falsely trigger on objects behind or to the sides of the sensor. The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR offers a controlled narrow beam designed to reject small objects (clutter) outside of the central beam area and provides long range sensitivity without detecting frivolous or unwanted targets.

Calibration

Each XL‑TrashSonar‑WR is tested for proper operation at our facility and comes with a factory calibrated narrow beam pattern to help ensure consistent operation of the sensor, even from part to part

The XL‑TrashSonar‑WR automatically calibrates to its environment before every range reading. This calibration includes compensation for voltage, humidity, acoustic noise, and electric noise conditions. Temperature compensation for speed of sound changes are not applied.

Price

This sensor is designed for high volume production. As a result, our customers benefit distributed engineering expenses.
