MaxBotix Inc., Releases Two Self‑Cleaning, High Performance, Outdoor Ultrasonic Sensor Lines

The condensation issue in tanks and other moisture-prone environments is solved! The SCXL‑MaxSonar sensor series, based on our popular HRXL-MaxSonar-WR product line, is a power-efficient unit suitable for battery or solar powered setups.

Designed for tank level measurement, grain storage bins, and other applications where condensation occurs, our new SCXL-MaxSonar-WR/WRC self-cleaning sensor line is a low-cost, space-saving, IP67 weather resistance rating solution for your needs.

Breaking new ground is the new SCXL-MaxSonar-WRS self-cleaning snow-depth sensor line. The self-cleaning feature eliminates the buildup of snow and ice on our snow depth measurement sensors for weather stations.

Engineering of the new SCXL-MaxSonar sensors incorporates the same ruggedness, high performance, and quality that you have come to expect from MaxBotix.

The SCXL-MaxSonar self-cleaning feature gently heats the face of the transducer, atomizing any condensation to prevent moisture buildup.

It is simple to upgrade your current sensor setup to the new hardware if needed. The MB7500 series directly replaces the MB7300 with minimal code changes. For example; if the current setup is using an MB7369 and a self-cleaning function is needed, simply drop in a 7569. If the current setup is using an MB7354 and a self-cleaning function is needed, the MB7554 is the drop in replacement.

For mechanical engineers, we have 3D models available in multiple formats to help during the design process. The SCXL sensors are RoHS, CE, and IP67 compliant.

All SCXL-MaxSonar sensors feature the following outputs: Analog Voltage, Pulse Width, and Serial data that is available in either RS232 or TTL.

Along with our standard outputs, these sensors feature 1mm resolution, operational temperature range from -40˚C to +70˚C, real-time automatic calibration (voltage, humidity, ambient noise), temperature compensation, and a long 200,000+ Hours Mean Time Between Failure. The SCXL-MaxSonar sensors have an operational voltage range of 2.7-5.5V, with a 68mA current requirement.

Typical Wall Pipe Many customers have requested the option to mount an ultrasonic sensor in a pipe. During the testing and development cycle, we discovered a number of considerations and requirements that must be met for the application to be successful. When all of these are met, a user may be able to achieve the desired level of success for measuring the liquid level inside of a pipe.
